My Garden Treasures #6

I'm continuing to paint in my garden although the temperatures in South Louisiana are continuing to climb so I am not sure how much longer I will continue to paint outdoors.

Note:  I'm continuing to play with color here.  I usually grab for my cerulean and/or ultramarine blue, but concentrated more on prussian blue in these paintings.

Here is this old iron pot I spoke of in an earlier blog post.  I've painted it in again but showing its little fee again.  This pot sits in my backyard near the post and right in front of my screened in porch.

This old shed, my husband converted into a house for my cats.  It has a door missing, but my kitties don't seem to mind; its shelter from the cold and rain.  I've painted Mama Cat sitting in the lower left side.  I think she would be really surprised to see her doors to her house closed.

Opelousas Trip

Last week I had an opportunity to paint at the family farm belonging to my Acupuncturist, Fern Martin.  I've been getting acupuncture treatments from Fern for several months and I have never felt better.  She is awesome!  Fern lives on the farm in Opelousas, LA with her two sisters.

While I was on location painting there, they were making a compost bed to use on their wonderful garden.  I really enjoyed watching these three amazing and talented women work together on their project.  During my visit, I toured the hen house and was lucky enough to watch a hen laying an egg.

There are so many areas on the farm that would make wonderful subjects to paint.  One of my favorites is a little pump house with a chalk board and the words "Another Great Day" written there.  Every time I am there, those words remind me of all the many things I have to be grateful for and one of them is "Another Great Day".

My Garden Treasures #5

Here are a few more paintings in my continuing garden series.  The daily temperatures are slowly rising, getting up to the high 80's, so I am trying to paint earlier in the day.  I'm working my way around and through my yard...

My Garden Treasures #4

And so my Garden Treasures series continues. The paintings I'm posting today are a few more views from my backyard gardens.

Note:  This old chair was made many years ago by my dear old Uncle Jerry Robichaux, who passed away quite a few years ago.  The chair is worn and has seen its better days, but I just can't seem to part with it.  I painted the chair faded out to represent its days gone by.
